Britannia Royal Navy College and Buckland Tout Saints Wedding- Jess & Joe

Britannia Royal Navy College and Buckland Tout-Saints Wedding Photographer, Devon- Jess & Joe

I love photographing weddings at Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth and Buckland Tout-Saints in Kingsbridge, Devon. I’m very happy to be a recommended photographer for Buckland and I have shot weddings before at BRNC overlooking the River Dart,  so I was really excited when Jess and Joe got in touch.

It was a real honour to be their wedding photographer and I really do love a military wedding. I’m very happy to cover lots of Royal Navy Weddings and I have another to photograph here in a few weeks time.

Here’s a more detailed look at their wedding day which took place back in August this summer. We had a few spots of rain early on, but were then blessed with lots of sunshine for the reception.

Jess is a talented seamstress herself and her wedding dress was simply stunning with an added overskirt to complete the look. Joe was dressed in his traditional blue Royal Navy Uniform with a peaked hat and Naval sword.

BRNC Chapel Photographs

Jess and Joe had their wedding ceremony in the stunning Chapel which is at the College at BRNC. Jess was walked down the aisle by her father before seeing Joe for their first look at the front of the Chapel. This is always one of my favourite moments during any wedding and I love the emotion and happiness that you can capture. The chapel has a balcony at the back where you can take a great ariel view during the marriage service with a wide angle lens and I love the Navy ship that is hanging down from the ceiling.

Luxury Country House Hotel

The reception was back at the beautiful Buckland Tout-Saints in Kingsbridge, a perfect Devon wedding venue which I love to photograph at. Jess had earlier had her bridal preparations here before traveling over to Dartmouth. It’s nestled in the lovely South Hams countryside, with the most stunning gardens and woodlands to enjoy a glass of champagne or two. After some confetti, fizz and the formal photographs, it was time to enjoy the delicious wedding breakfast.

Natural Bride and Groom Portraits

After some great speeches and the cutting of the cake, I took Jess and Joe off for a little walk around the beautiful grounds and gardens for some early evening portraits. It’s another favourite time of mine to capture some great photographs of the Bride and Groom on their wedding day and give them something really special that they have never seen before of themselves. We had some gorgeous soft evening light and I always make sure these photos are really fun and relaxed and capture the couple very naturally with little or no direction.

This was such a beautiful wedding, thank you so much for letting me share your day and pictures.

Here’s a look at some of my favourite documentary photographs from their very special day…
